LIFE
Michiel Wiesenekker was born in Amsterdam; he started to play the guitar at the age of nine. In 2001, after the release of the duo's first CD
Wouldn't Listen, Michiel followed his sister to study classical guitar with Professor Dieter Kreidler at the Conservatory of Music in Wuppertal.
He also studied electric guitar with Peter Fischer at the Bundesakademie in Trossingen. In 2008, he completed his master's degree for classical
guitar at the Robert Schumann Conservatory of Music in Düsseldorf with Professor Alexander Sergei Ramirez. Since 2009, Michiel is teaching at the
Conservatory in Düsseldorf, he gives classes on the guitar in different popular music styles.
As part of the Amsterdams Gitaar en Mandoline Duo he gives concerts and workshops in Germany, the Netherlands and abroad. Michiel lives in
Wuppertal (Germany), works at several music schools as a guitar teacher (electric & acoustic) and is regularly asked to be a jury member of
Jugend musiziert. Guitarists that inspire Michiel because of their warm and distinctive playing are Leo Brouwer, Laurindo Almeida, Barney Kessel,
Merle Travis, Blind Blake and David Fiuczynski.
