• ORCHESTRA WORKSHOP – ITALIAN COMPOSERS

Instructor: Carlo Aonzo (Italy)

You can participate with mandolin, mandole and guitar; also one or two double basses would add to the experience. A rehearsal with a plucked strings orchestra would show how enjoyable such a collaboration would be. The interpretation would be exquisite and genuine because an Italian conductor is rehearsing work by Italian composers. Also Bağlama players are welcome.

Prerequisites: Sight reading or some experience in playing with others, being on top of the world that day, average skills. You can obtain the sheet music a few weeks beforehand in order to prepare yourself (pdf via email). Please, mark the instrument you are playing, and give us an idea whether you will play the first or the second mandolin part. The first part needs some shifting along the fingerboard.

• "BAOBAB" - THE POP AND ROCK WORKSHOP FOR BEGINNERS AND ADVANCED LEARNERS

Instructors: Marijke & Michiel Wiesenekker (Netherlands)

Both mandolin and guitar players are invited to share in this workshop. Two or three songs from Pop and Rock will be taught (based on sheet music). Chords, rhythm, melodies and improvisation are essential ingredients in this workshop. The well-versed musicians of Amsterdams Gitaar en Mandoline Duo will present ways how to liven up programmes with music that is easily understood and is appreciated by the audience. This lecture is based on the Wiesenekkers' textbook Baobab - the Pop and Rock Workshop.

Participants can also bring e-guitars, e-mandolins or e-basses.
Please, bring along your instrument and music stand.
