LIFE

Jochen Roß, born in 1976 in Kassel, studied classical mandolin and piano with Steffen Trekel and Prof. Hans-Georg Lotz in Hamburg. This was followed by postgraduate studies in the Department of early music at the lutenist and Echo-winner Joachim Held. He has won numerous international awards and won in 1999 the prestigious competition for mandolin solo in Schweinfurt. In 2003 he lived for six months in Scotland and worked with local musicians. Since autumn 2003 he has taught at the New School of Music in Buxtehude, near Hamburg. He was a member of the rock band Vitamin 5. With guitarist Jens-Uwe Popp (Giora Feidman, David Orlowsky Trio), he released the CD-productions time points, with contemporary music, and The Ten Islands with modern arrangements of Scottish music.
