Mandolin- and mandole-players of different skill levels are invited to ask any questions they may have on mandolin techniques. All elementary levels will be shown and reviewed; and suggestions will be made how to improve your play.

• BAĞLAMA AND FINGER PLAYING TECHNIQUE

In this workshop, we will show how we can create a clear sound by playing the Bağlama with fingers. We will try all possibilities. In addition, we will play some example songs in temperament system with different rhythmic patterns with the finger playing technique. Mandolin players are also welcome.

• GROOVE TECHNIQUES FOR THE RIGHT HAND

We will explore together the Beatles' Norwegian Wood. We will use a short solo version (also with the possibility to sing), in which peculiar sonorous patterns for the right hand will be tested. Advanced beginners may participate in this workshop without any difficulties.

You will be exposed to universal principles of movement so that the player may achieve a free and joyful playing of the guitar. Having studied Chinese teachings of movement for years - and having become a recognized teacher of Tai-Chi himself - Michael Tröster learned to understand in-depth the important principles of guitar playing. The aim is to use one's flowing energy for a relaxed play without any hindrance. These principles can be equally applied to the mandolin.

Meter and rhythm belong to the most important musical parameters. They help to understand and to interpret music. They are extremely important for a rhythmic performance and coherent playing in ensembles and orchestras - equally for clean entries and a lively shaping of music.

An introduction to playing E-Guitar or E-Mandolin, so-called Basics, with the help of sheet music and audio exposure. Questions such as Which groove fits a particular song? and Improvisation is good, but how to manage it? will be answered at this workshop by the Amsterdams musicians Marijke und Michiel Wiesenekker. You are also a welcome guest at the workshop MG4 Baobab - the Pop & Rock Workshop, in order to enjoy a more detailed exposure.
